A Visit to the 9/11 Memorial
Our organist,
Ron D'Albero and an old
friend Ken recently visited the Memorial's two massive reflecting pools, with more
than 400 trees surrounding them at
the plaza. Photo shows Ron's hand touching the name of a dear friend he lost, Diane
Barry. Her name is one of nearly
3,000 names of people killed in the attacks of September 11, 2001, and February 26, 1993,
all inscribed into bronze parapets
surrounding the Memorial's twin pools, set within the footprints of the original twin towers.

Carnegie Hall Performance
We are proud of our senior cantor
Sally Kaelber who performed the Messiah with the 150 member St. Cecilia Chorus at
Carnegie Hall
on December 9, 2011. Supporting her in the audience were members of her family, friends and colleagues.
Alaskan Adventure
Our lector
Joe Mahoney
and his wife Linda vacation in Alaska every year. Here is an interesting excerpt from
The Daily Sitka Sentinel,
Sitka, Alaska, on Monday, July 18, 2011 on their most recent vacation:
Sitka Sound Race Times
About 20 Sitkans participated in the 5th annual Sitka Sound Ocean Adventure Race Saturday, with kayaks and other
human-powered
craft competing in the 6-mile and 14-mile divisions. "The weather was wonderful," said Andy Miller,
the executive director
of the Maritime Heritage Society, which helped organize the race. Pete Menendez and Joseph
Mahoney, in a two-man kayak,
had the fastest time on the short course, coming home in 1:19:53 to edge Rick
Peterson. Peterson finished in 1:20:00.
